Our Favorite Movies Involving Coffee
Coffee is a daily ritual for most Americans, and that ritual is regularly portrayed in the movies we love. Scenes with coffee can range from the coffee as a simple prop to coffee as a main character. Wherever these movies fall on the spectrum, here is a look at our favorite movies involving coffee.
9. Role Models
I always order my coffee in English in the hope that I can someday have this argument. I know, it is not the person behind the counter simply trying to scrape out a living, but you know what I mean. There is a little satisfaction I say “Large.” Venti is for 20 oz. Who knew?
7. Hall Pass
Coffee shops seem like a great place for a pick up, but I have been out of the game for 15 years. What do I know? Maybe try something like “I’ll have a large ice coffee, no sweetener…you’re sweet enough.” With that said, there isn’t an ulterior motive to my coffee ordering technique.
6. Terminator 2
Aside from being one of the best sequels of all time, Terminator 2 taught us that it never pays to brew coffee from a rickety vending machine. This is especially true when fighting to save humanity. If we rely on machines to brew our coffee, those machines will eventually kill us. Fight back! Buy a kettle and a filter and learn how to brew the coffee yourself. You’re human.
5. Black Hawk Down
Truthfully, I joined the military because of the movies, and Black Hawk Down was on my list. It is the true story recounting the battle of Mogadishu in 1993. I love war movies, especially if they are based on historical events. I get it, not every detail is based in reality…cough cough…like MOST movies. If you want the detailed history, read the book…which I have…several times. Anyway, “It’s all about the grind” baby!
4. Pulp Fiction
“God Damn, Jimmy. This some serious gourmet shit.” I understand the feeling, and probably have a similar reaction when I take that first sip of a great cup of coffee. Whether you are at home, at work, or at Jimmy’s house covered in blood with a body in your trunk, a great cup deserves praise.
3. Sudden Impact
2. Airplane 2
Lost in space without coffee? Sounds terrible. We don’t deliver to space yet, but we’re working on it. Beware of the asteroids!
1. The Big Lebowski
Many have fought for our simple human rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of coffee. “I’m staying…I’m finishing my coffee.”
And there you have it, those are our favorite movies involving coffee. Yes, there are more out there, but we like what we like.
